STATEMENT BY CYPFSA IN SUPPORT OF PREMIER PANYAZA LESUFI

The Civil Youth Policy Forum of South Africa (CYPFSA) notes the latest motion tabled by the Democratic Alliance against Premier Panyaza Lesufi. We reject this motion as petty, opportunistic and disconnected from the real needs of the people of Gauteng.

Premier Lesufi has demonstrated visible, practical and people-centred leadership in confronting crime, unemployment and the collapse of social trust in communities. Instead of sitting on the sidelines and criticising, he has taken initiative — whether through youth absorption programmes, innovation in safety interventions, or pushing government to respond with urgency to the realities faced by ordinary residents.

The DA’s motion does not offer an alternative or constructive pathway — it simply attempts to undermine and stall progress for political point-scoring. Gauteng needs solutions, not theatrics.

CYPFSA stands with Premier Lesufi and the Gauteng administration in their continued efforts to deliver responsive governance and restore dignity and safety to our communities. We affirm our confidence in his leadership and reject any attempt to derail work that is actively changing people’s lives for the better.
